"Field Day Special" 20 Meter Antenna

I just got a book called More Wire Antenna Classics Volume 2 which is a compilation of wire antenna designs taken from old QSTs. An article by Roy LeWallen W7EL caught my eye as it was a little different approach than the usual wire antenna. This antenna was cut for CW operation on 20 meters, but the claim is that it can be modified for SSB as well. He also claims it performs well with configurations for other bands. This is a close-spaced, driven array using 300 ohm TV line (ladder line) in a folded dipole configuration. It can be built very cheaply and offers good  gain. I've attached the  article in the attachments section. You may also want  to refer to a variation of this construction here: http://www.qsl.net/5z4ft/antennas.html

If you want to understand more about arrays and wave propagaion in general, go here: http://electriciantraining.tpub.com/14182/css/14182_46.htm this is a very good tutorial on antenna theory.
